Every student graduating from a New Jersey high school is required to fulfill a Career Education requirement. At Mendham, the process begins in sophomore year, when students complete a Career Decision Maker profile, then, based on the results, research a job and write a paper on it. In their junior year, students are introduced to the resume writing process and complete a resume based on academic, extracurricular and community achievements. This same resume is updated in senior year and becomes a working document for use with college and job applications. This process is administered through the College Career Resource Center. The CCRC has an extensive library of college and career information, college search software, scholarship applications, job opportunities/volunteer postings and various year-round, as well as summer programs. Here students will find regularly updated computer programs designed to provide in-depth college searches and career information. As the CCRC Advisor, I schedule college representatives to visit our school throughout the fall, an Alumni Panel in the spring to discuss their freshman college experience, and workshops and field trips throughout the school year.
