Creating a socially and emotionally safe environment for our students is one of the highest priorities for our school district. Professional Development will include opportunities for our staff to collaborate and dialogue on issues related to this theme as well as strategies to nurture self-discipline, self-esteem, responsibility, and resiliency in our students.
Online Training: Child Abuse
Why online training? To give us flexibility in our staff development activities. State regulations mandate faculty training on issues related to student wellness. This fulfills the mandate in a more convenient manner by allowing us to discuss these issues as they relate directly to our community. The online modules cover the legal aspects of the law and the schools responsibility.
* View the video modules and take the self assessments practice tests. The program gives you the correct answers after you submit your answers. * Take the “final exam” for certification. The questions are the exact same question as in the practice quizzes. You don’t have to print out the certificate. * If you have any technological problems (ie. logging in or viewing the video module) contact Mackey Pendergrast at extension 1378. * The faculty has 45 days to complete the program. * Assistance will be given on the April 2nd delayed opening for those who experience difficulties with the program.
O.T.I.S. Online Training In-Service
· You need a computer with sound capabilities (our laptops have sound capabilities). A headset can be used with the library computers. Make sure the sound is on (not muted) and at a level that you can hear. o Volume Control: Click on the “speaker” icon in the lower right hand corner of the computer or click START à PROGRAMS à ACCESSORIESà ENTERTAINMENTà VOLUME CONTROL. · Go to http://otislogon.moesc.org · Input your username and password. Remember that it is case sensitive. It will then ask you to create your own password.

· Faculty members who have used the program in school have found that it works best on “High Bandwith” not “Higher” or “Highest”. Most people are finding that you can complete the program in an hour. The program has 4 modules and you do not have to complete the modules in one sitting. Make sure you check for the correct answers after each self assessment. You must take the final exam for successful completion of the program. · Completion of the program qualifies as one hour of professional development. You are NOT required to print the certificate. · You have 45 days to complete the program. It can be completed at home or in school. · We will have a large group training for those faculty members who are not able to complete it because of technological difficulties. · Please email me with your problems so that I can “monitor and adjust” as we go through this process. mpendergrast@wmhsd.org
