This year should be an interesting and engaging one for students of Spanish 1, 2 and 3, as they actively engage in listening, writing and speaking activities with their classmates. Students will improve their speaking and reading comprehension skills through authentic Spanish dialogues, videos, short stories and magazine and newspaper articles. In addition, students will demonstrate their understanding of the course material through daily homework assignments, weekly quizzes, monthly projects and chapter tests. Student participation and daily study is essential!
I am available for extra help after school on Tuesdays in Room 166. |

Study Skills for Students:
Obtain a homework pad. Write down all assignments as your teacher gives them.
Ask questions before leaving class.
Stay after school if you need further clarification.
Clean/Sort your binder regularly.
Date all your notes each day. Give page numbers to loose-leaf sheets for easy reading.
Copy over notes if yours are sloppy. Use a computer if necessary.
Review your notes each evening so you can prepare questions for the next day.
Check off your assignments on your pad as you finish.

|
Parent Involvement: Monitor daily assignment pad for homework, tests/quizzes, projects and/or papers.
Provide a study area, realize no homework means time to review notes, read, etc.
Reward follow-through and time on task.
Quiz your child—English to Spanish vocabulary drills. Study every night.
Make flash cards with your child or quiz them on their class notes.
Encourage community involvement to practice hearing and speaking Spanish outside of class. |
