Skill Lab is a course designed for students identified as requiring remediation in the basic skills of reading comprehension and writing, who are predominantly mainstreamed for their academic program. Students are recommended based on a review of their standardized test scores and individual assessment profiles. Goals and objectives are prescribed and delineated in the student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). The course is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who need to strengthen literacy skills in preparation for the High School Proficiency Assessment.  Students are held to taking/passing HSPA at the time of their enrollment in the course.
