I began working as a maternity leave replacement in October 2005 in the position of Student Assistance Counselor. I am excited and eager to be back working with West Morris again this year. Prior to coming to West Morris Central I worked for Saint Clare’s Hospital as a Mental Health Counselor for 10 years. I worked with both adult and adolescents providing support, skills training, and counseling. I have worked in various settings from in-patient, partial care to residential services. I have always enjoyed the energy of adolescents and was excited to have an opportunity to work in a school setting. As a Student Assistance Counselor I am here to provide support and information to both parents and our students. I assist many students in developing coping skills for addictions, anger, depression, family and school stressors. I can offer information regarding resources and act as a sounding board for various concerns. I truly believe that my role with our students is to provide them with support while increasing their self-esteem so that they can become empowered and responsible adults. |
